Apple iPhones, iPods and iPads do not Support Flash


I was just watching a video which was based on Seminar Held in Korea by Matt Cutts. In that video on one topic Matt Cutts said that Apple iPhones, iPods and iPads do not Support Flash and it was something new for me. So I did a lot of research and found the below things. It is very true that Apple iPhones, iPods and iPads do not Support Flash.

This information is very help full for all of us as we all know that Mobile Optimization & App Store Optimization will be soon hitting the Indian Market in fact it has.

Some Important Points from Apple:

Rather than use Flash, Apple has adopted HTML5, CSS and JavaScript – all open standards

Apple devices cannot play Flash games, Flash Video's

Some Important Reasons 

  • Flash has not performed well on mobile devices.
  • Symantec recently highlighted Flash for having one of the worst security records in 2009. Apple also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash. Apple has been working with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. And Apple does not want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash.
  • To achieve long battery life when playing video or games. 
  • Flash is closed and proprietary, has major technical drawbacks, and doesn’t support touch based devices, there is an even more important reason Apple does not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. Apple has discussed the downsides of using Flash to play video and interactive content from websites, but Adobe also wants developers to adopt Flash to create apps that run on our mobile devices.
